To: All Website Viewers: Welcome to the website of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina, the largest African American group in the state. Your visit is what we desire because we want you to know that we exist and why we exist. The Convention was founded in 1877 and Morris College was founded in Sumter, SC in 1908. Morris College was birthed out of the constituency of this Convention and the struggle to educate men and women began. However, today under the meticulous leadership and presidency of Dr. Luns C. Richardson, the college is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities. The objective of the Convention is to provide leadership and support to pastors and churches across the state of South Carolina, advocate Christian ministry, support Morris and Benedict Colleges financially, and engage in partnerships aimed at meeting the needs of the larger community. We are excited about the potential and future of this Convention and are working hard to realize a positive end to the glory of God. Our 2010 theme is “A Convention with A Mind to Win the Lost.” We are grateful to God for each member church and pastor, and we welcome churches who desire a spiritual covering of an ecclesiastical state body that is designed to equip and exhort everyone to a fruitful work in Christ. Come join us as we have every intention of being a power for good. Our Annual Harvest Day Rally will be held at Morris College on November 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Ronald Bobo, Pastor of Westside Baptist Church in Saint Louis, Missouri will be the guest speaker. Please feel free to join us in our Annual Mid-Winter Board Meeting on January 4 - 5, 2011 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church of Santee, SC. The church’s number is 803-854-2730. We are waiting with great anticipation to a great fellowship, thought provoking teaching, spiritual worship and inspiring preaching. After viewing the website, we invite you to share information with us which will help us to have a more informative and effective website. How can we better serve you? We address a number of issues and concerns, but in an effort to be thorough, we invite your suggestions. Please email your comments directly to the President at benjamin.snoddy@bemsc.org. Again, thank you for visiting us and do visit us again soon. To God be the glory for all the great things He has done. Dr. Benjamin D. Snoddy Convention President
