
The Reverend Dr. William T. Johnson is the pastor of the Historical Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church in Summerton, South Carolina and has been for the past twenty-nine (29) years. He is the son of James and Eva Johnson. Reverend Johnson is a native of Sumter, South Carolina, where he attended and graduated in 1977 from Hillcrest High School in Dalzell, South Carolina. He continued his education at Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Theology in 1995. In 2001, he was awarded an Honorary Doctrine of Humanity Degree from the Carolina Theological Bible Institute for dedicated and devoted services to the state and surrounding communities.
In January, 1979, he was called into the Gospel Ministry and preached his first sermon on February 25, 1979. In September of that same year, he was ordained by the Sumter Baptist Missionary and Education Association, making him the first teenager to go before this board. In 1981, Reverend Johnson served as Assistant Pastor of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina before being called to be the Senior Pastor of Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church in Summerton, South Carolina in September 1982.

Pastor Johnson was united in holy matrimony to the former Ms. Karen Smalls. From this union, they have two daughters, Monica and Terri Johnson, two grandchildren, Ariannah and Amaury Johnson. But most of all, he is a Christian and a Gospel Preacher.
