Dear Moderators and Pastors:
2018 Theme: "The Convention: Letting Its Light Shine Through Prayer."
Throughout the ages, those who have led the church of God have had a full and rich ministry of prayer. Suppernatural Power is released when the Church prays. Only the power of God can defeat the attacks of the enemy in our communities and in our country. When the Church drops her own agenda and decides to come together to pray, there is great spiritual power released into the atmosphere. Prayer affects everything!
The Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina is unique from all other religious bodies in our state. Our member churches exist in all 46 counties. We choose to be effective by uniting as one body, doing greater work for Kingdom Building. We have discovered that we can do more together than we can do alone!
Annual Session - 141 convenes May 7-11 on the historic campus of Morris College, "The Pride of Black Baptist". This is a vital time for each of our member churches. Baptists have a deep-seated faith and conviction that compels us to advocate for the powerless and marginalized - mid-term national elections, the random school shootings, natural disasters, and race issues are obliterating this country. As a people of God, we must STAND!
It was God who stated, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14.
During the Session, we will be praying to God for His intervention! Annual Session - 141 concludes President Blassingame's final year. This means, we will thank him for five years of loyal service and elect a new slate of officers. Over 1000 voting delegates are expected to cast votes during this historical election.
Pastors and Delegates are urged to bring their doorway fees. We also encourage you to pre-register your churches. Online registration is available on the website. Onsite registration will began on Tuesday afternoon, May 8, at 3:00pm. In addition to Doorway fees, each Association is requested to contribute a minimum of one thousand dollars ($1000) on Moderator's Night and each church is asked to give $100 for Higher Education Night. Also, be prepared to register with the Brotherhood and the Music Departments.
